'Avengers: Endgame' recruits a familiar face to save the world in new trailer: 'Whatever it takes'  2 Months ago

In the aftermath of Thanos' mass destruction in "Avengers: Infinity War," the remaining heroes are now left to pick up the pieces.

Moving on is proving tough for the crew, as seen in the new trailer for "Avengers: Endgame," which dropped Thursday morning.

"Whatever it takes" becomes the new rallying cry: Captain America (Chris Evans) vows to continue to keep the world safe, before Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) echo him.

One of the trailer's most prominent lines actually stems from "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and was voiced by Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), who died in the following Captain America installment.

"The world has changed," she says. "None of us can go back. All we can do is our best. And sometimes the best we can do is to start over."

Fans on Twitter were quick to recognize the voice and began to wonder what the reference meant for the Avengers' latest adventure: time travel, perhaps?

Another fan was too excited to finish a complete thought: "WAS THE BRITISH ACCENT ON THE NEW AVENGERS ENDGAME TRAILER PEGGY CARTER'S ????? IM--"

And Twitter went wild for Captain Marvel's (Brie Larson) first "Avengers" trailer appearance, fresh off her feature film debut. She and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) stare each other down before Thor cracks a smile, declaring he "likes this one." Fans on social media clearly did, too.

"They're best friends already, another added.

Another dubbed Thor and Captain Marvel "the duo I never thought I needed but I'm so glad I have."

"Avengers: Endgame" hits theaters April 26.
